Say the road stretch is in a dilapidated condition

Pulwama: The residents of Arigam, Shairabad and its adjacent areas in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are demanding immediate macadamization of the road passing through the area.

The residents of the area said that the vital road hasn’t been macadamized ever due to which people of the area are suffering.

Ishfaq Gul, a local social activist said that the road from Arigam-Shairabad has been neglected by consecutive governments due to which the people of these villages have been facing huge inconvenience.

He said that internal routes have been macadamized but this road falling quite close to the Tral town has been neglected and even in LG lead administration locals were hopeful that they will get relief but that hasn’t happened as of now.

Ghlam Mohiudin, another local resident said that funds were allotted for the strengthening of Tral Arigam-Shairabad road but due to unknown reasons the work wasn’t taken up on the road.

He said that local delegations have knocked the doors of every authority but due to unknown reasons this project wasn’t taken up despite repeated assurances from the authorities.

The locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned officials repeatedly in the last three years where locals were assured of action, but on ground these assurances are proving hoax.

They said that the road was never macadamized and it needs widening at many places as well.

They said that politicians have been visiting the area to seek the votes but they too have failed to get things moving as far as development and upgradation of the road is concerned.

They have once again requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard.

An official of R&B department said that the funds released weren’t enough to strengthen the road and fresh DRP has been proposed under NABARD for the up-gradation of same road.

He said that once the project will be approved, they will start work on the road.
