Bridge over Nallah Tongri in Darbagh Shopian to be construed next year: R&B Official
Shopian: The bridge over Nallah Tongri in Darbagh Shopian area of south Kashmir will be constructed next year, an official said.
The residents of Darbagh Watchi area of Zainapora sub division of south Kashmir’s Shopian district have been demanding bridge over Nallah Tongri for a long time now.
The residents of the area said that they are facing a lot of problems in absence of a proper bridge as the bridge was damaged in 2014 floods.
They said that after the damaged causes to the bridge only small and Light Motor vehicles are allowed crossing the bridge and heavy motor vehicles have been barred to use the bridge.
Altaf Ahmad, a local resident said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of a safe bridge, especially in emergency situations.
He said that bridge has tilted to one side and crossing the bridge for any vehicle is very risky.
He said that if government won’t wake up immediately in this regard, it may turn fatal anytime.
Meanwhile, the locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but so far nothing has been done.
They once again requested the authorities to look into the matter and construct a concrete bridge at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Notably, Executive Engineer R&B Zainapora, Jahangir Hakim said that the Zainapora division was established recently and they have already taken cognizance of the issue.
He said that they have already prepared DPR in this regard and submitted it to the higher ups.
“We are expecting that this project will be approved by this year end and construction work will be taken up next year,” he said.
