Koil Pulwama residents demand ATM facility in the area
Pulwama: The residents of Koil area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are facing inconvenience due to the non-availability of ATM facility in the area, the locals alleged Tuesday.
The locals from Koil area said that there is no ATM facility in the area forcing them to travel long distances to access banking services.
They said they have to either travel to other areas where ATM facility is available or personally visit the bank for withdrawing cash.
“We have a J&K bank business unit here but still without an ATM facility even though these facilities are available in far off villages,” said Rizwan Ahmad, a local resident.
“We have several times appealed to the concerned authorities to install an ATM machine here, but nothing has happened so far,” he said.
Sameer Ahmad, another local said the government is making efforts for cashless transactions in the rest of the world while this area does not have even an ATM.
“For transactions, we have to visit 5 kilometers to Pulwama town to get cash from the ATM,” he said.
Locals said that they have brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile an official of J&K bank said that ATM facility will be made available at Koil Pulwama very soon.
