Assembly Elections-2024: SVEEP Awareness programme organized at Pink Polling Station, Yaripora

KULGAM: As part of the ongoing efforts to promote voter awareness and encourage greater participation in the electoral process, a special awareness programme under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organized at the Pink Polling Station in Yaripora.
Nodal officer SVEEP, Nazia Hassan said that the programme aimed to educate and sensitize voters, particularly women, about the importance of exercising their democratic right to vote.
During the programme, emphasis was placed on the significance of voting in a democracy and the impact every vote can have in shaping the future of the nation.
Participants were also informed about the various initiatives and facilities provided to make the voting process more accessible, such as the establishment of Pink Polling Stations designed to offer a more comfortable voting environment for women.
Multiple cultural activities and a mehandi competition also marked the event.
The SVEEP initiative aims to create a more inclusive and participatory electoral process by ensuring that every eligible voter is informed and empowered to cast their vote.

BUDGAM: On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Subash Chander Chibber, and under the supervision of Dy. Excise Commissioner Executive Kashmir, Tazayun Mukhtar, officials headed by Inspector from the Excise Range Central Kashmir conducted a series of raids at brick kilns located in Nowbugh, Tehsil Chadoora, Budgam.
During the raid, the team uncovered 17 liters of Lahan adjacent to one of the brick kilns. The illicit substance was immediately destroyed on the spot. The owners of the brick kilns were duly informed about the severe legal repercussions associated with illicit distillation.
In addition to the enforcement action, the senior citizens of the locality were sensitized regarding the social and health hazards of illicit liquor. They were urged to report any such illegal activities to the officials of the Excise Department promptly.
This operation underscores the commitment of the Excise Department to curb the illegal production and distribution of illicit liquor in the region. Further actions will continue to be taken to ensure compliance with the law and to protect public health and safety.
