Pulwama: The residents of Zahid Bagh in Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of the road as per DPR in the area.

The residents of the area said that the road from Zahid Bagh-Safanagri via Darbagh was sanctioned last year and construction work has already been taken up.

They alleged that in Darbagh the authorities have widened the road by constructing a wall in the canal but that pattern isn’t being followed in Zahidbagh.

Sajad Ahmad, a local resident said that they want uniformity everywhere and if any structure proves a hindrance it must dismantled and the owner duly compensated.

Ghulam Hassan, another local said that the irrigation department which has raised some concerns allowed the construction of a wall in the canal in Darbagh but has objected to the same activity in Zahidbagh.

He said that the department stopped work in Zahidbagh but not in Darbagh when wall along the road was constructed in the canal.

He said that the canal s not in use since 2014, but the objections have been raised by the concerned department.

Meanwhile, the locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They said that whosoever raises the voice is being summoned by the irrigation department.

They requested higher ups especially Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and Shopian to look into the matter by constituting a committee so that road will be constructed as per DPR and similar pattern is being followed everywhere.
