Darbagh Shopian residents demand bridge over Nallah Tongri
Shopian: The residents of Darbagh Watchi area of Zainapora sub division of south Kashmir’s Shopian district have demanded a bridge over Nallah Tongri
The residents of the area said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of a proper bridge as the bridge on the nallah was damaged in 2014 floods.
They said that the bridge was damaged in 2014 due to which only Light Motor vehicles are crossing the bridge and heavy motor vehicles have been barred to cross it.
Gulzar Ahmad, a local resident, said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of a safe bridge, especially in case of an emergency.
He said that bridge has tilted towards one sided due to which crossing the bridge for any vehicle is very risky.
He said that if government won’t wake up immediately in this regard, it may turn fatal anytime.
Since last several years, every authority has been contacted but nothing has been done on ground, he added.
“Government has spent lakhs in different works everywhere but have failed in constructing a concrete bridge here,” Sameer Ahmad, another local said.
He said that with the construction of the bridge, hundreds of households will get connected with different villages.
Meanwhile, the locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.
Despite voting, taking part in every government programme, repeated assurances with us have proved hoax on ground, they added.
“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Shopian that they will look into it and direct concerned authorities to constrct a bridge that is safe and strong,” they added.
