Poor cellular network irks Watchi Shopian residents
Shopian: The residents of Watchi area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district complained of poor connectivity of cellular networks in the area.
The residents of the area said that despite being a populous village in Shopian district, people are facing inconveniences due to poor network in the area.
“Despite being home to over 2,500 families, our village continues to experience extremely poor network connectivity, with data speeds comparable to 2G,” they said.
“The lack of reliable network infrastructure is severely impacting the lives of many in our community,” said Javid Ahmad, a local resident.
“Students, who are dependent on online resources for their studies, aspirants preparing for competitive exams, and employees working from home are all facing considerable difficulties”, he added.
Basharat Ahmad, another local said that the situation is very miserable considering the increasing reliance on digital platforms in our daily lives.
He said that at a time when other people are enjoying 5G services, people of Watchi are still experiencing 2G network due to a weak setup established by the cellular companies.
The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They requested the administration for immediate intervention so that the issue is resolved at an earliest.
They have also appealed to the government for an upgrade of 4G to 5G services so that people won’t suffer anymore.
