Police solves theft case in Ganderbal, four held

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal solved a theft case by arresting four accused persons involved in the crime, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that police received a written complaint on 28th of May 2024 regarding cattle theft at Kachnambal Wudar Kangan. On receipt of this complaint, a case FIR No 41/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kangan and investigation was started.

During the course of investigation, a special team was constituted who apprehended four suspected persons. They have been identified as Imran Ahmad Shah son of Ajaz Ahmad Shah resident of UP A/P Panzinara, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Wahab Sheikh resident of Gantmula Baramulla, Mohammad Lateef Pathan son of Ali Mohammad Pathan resident of Mujpathri Budgam and a Juvenile (name withheld) resident of Qamarwari Srinagar.

During questioning, they confessed their involvement in the crime. They further disclosed that they have sold the cattle to a butcher identified as Yaqoob Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Maqbool Wani resident of Hajin Sonawari. All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody besides, the juvenile was lodged in juvenile home Harwan Srinagar. Moreover, 02 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK06B0172 & JK05L5975 which were used in the commission of the crime were also seized, the spokesman added.
