Vital Argi Chek-Sangervani road in dilapidated condition, locals demand macadamization
Pulwama: The residents of different areas of south Kashmir are expressing deep frustration over the deplorable condition of the Argi Chek-Sangervani road that connects at least seven villages.
Locals from Agri Chek, Abhama, Bhagandar, Achgoza, Sangervani and other villages said that the road that connects them to the rest of the world has deteriorated significantly over time, making it nearly impossible for vehicles and pedestrians to traverse without facing considerable difficulties.
Yawar Ahmad, a local resident said that the road has been lying in dilapidated condition for a long time now but the government has ignored its repair and well being.
He said that the road witnesses huge rush of vehicles as it connects with the main highway leading to Pakherpora, Yousmarg and Chaar-e-Shareef , however, due to unknown reasons the road isn’t being macadamized.
Javid Ahmad, another resident of Sangervani said that the road is riddled with large potholes, uneven surfaces, and eroded sections, which worsen during the rainy season, leading to frequent traffic disruptions and increasing the risk of accidents.
He said that students, patients and daily commuters are suffering as public transport usually remains off the road now as they are hesitant in running their vehicles on the road.
The locals said that they have repeatedly raised their concerns with the authorities, highlighting the urgent need for macadamization to ensure safe and smooth travel.
Despite these appeals, little action has been taken, leaving residents to grapple with the road’s poor state daily, they said.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and macadamize the road at an earliest so that locals won’t suffer anymore.
