Pulwama: The Pakherpora-Yousmarg road is reportedly in a mess causing significant inconvenience to commuters, tourists and residents, locals alleged Tuesday.

The residents along with tourists visiting the famous tourist spot Yousmarg said that the road is giving a tough time to the commuters.

They said that the road is full of potholes especially from Kanidajan crossing to Yousmarg and people coming from Pulwama and Srinagar side have to bear the brunt of a bumpy travel.

Mohammad Ashraf, a local tourist said that Yousmarg has good tourism potential and the flow of tourists is increasing with each passing day but the visitors are suffering due to the bad condition of the road.

He said that the road must be macadamized at an earliest so that people visiting there won’t face any problems and locals can continue to earn their livelihood with the good flow of tourists.

Javid Ahmad, a local resident said that the road, which is crucial for connecting various localities and supporting tourism, has deteriorated due to neglect and lack of maintenance.

He said that large potholes, uneven surfaces, and drainage issues have made the journey hazardous, particularly during the rainy season.

He urged authorities to take immediate action to repair and upgrade the road to ensure safe and smooth travel for all.

Meanwhile, the locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They have requested concerned authorities to look into the matter immediately and macadamize the road at an earliest.
