Anantnag: Even after a lapse of around four decades, a government school in Bijbehara education zone of Anantnag district continues to function from a private building.

Govt primary School Natipora Sangam Anantnag established in the mid 80’s continues to function from a private building as neither locals nor the government authorities have taken any step for construction of a building for the school.

At present around 50 students are studying in the school but the school is yet to have its own building and is still functioning in a private building lying in a dilapidated condition.

Parents of the students studying in the school said that the government shifted the school from a private building to another building last year, but have failed to construct a building to house the school.

They said that this year, it has been shifted back to its first location where there is heavy noise of vehicles and other mechanics.

They said that the building in which they are studying presently is also in dilapidated condition due to which students as well as teachers are suffering and are even at risk.

They further added that teachers are working hard to give them quality education but due to dilapidated condition of the building, they are facing huge problems.

Even state land is available in our village but government has failed to take steps to construct its own building, Mohammad Yaqoob, a parent said.

He said that the government started the demarcation process but it was left midway due to unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, the locals said that despite bringing it into the notice of higher ups several times no concrete steps are being taken on ground.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and construct a building for the school with other facilities like ground as well.

Meanwhile, an official said that they have already started the process in this regard and very soon school will have its own building.
