Unsafe Astanpora Pulwama puts commuter’s lives at risk, allege locals
Pulwama: The residents of Astanpora in Pulwama district are raising alarms over the unsafe conditions of the bridge which is putting commuters’ lives at significant risk.
The residents of the area said that the plates of the bridge at Astanpora Litter have been damaged at several spots as a result the public is facing huge inconveniences.
They said that this bridge got damaged years back and damage level increases with each passing day but it hasn’t been repaired as of now.
Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident said that the bridge was constructed around three decades back and got damaged buut hs not been repaired.
He said that hundreds of vehicles are crossing the bridge on a daily basis by putting their lives at risk.
Tariq Ahmad, another local resident said that the bridge is unsafe and can prove fatal if immediate steps are not taken.
He said that school going children too are facing immense risk as many vans and vehicles carrying them pass through the same bridge.
“It is very risky to cross the bridge but authorities have failed to take any step for carrying out any repairs,” he alleged.
The locals said that since last one year the government authorities were informed several times but nothing has been done as of now.
They said that the bridge is very important as it is connecting dozens of villages with each other.
The locals have once again requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest.
