Bewora Anantnag residents demand macadamisation of road
Anantnag: A vital road leading to Bewora from Pahalgam-Bijbehara road in Srigufwara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is lying in dilapidated condition due to which commuters are suffering, locals alleged Friday.
They said that the road from Pahalgam-Bijbehara to Nowpora via Bewora is one of the important roads of the district connecting dozens of villages with Bijbehara and other towns.
They said that the road was macadamised around ten years back and is now full of potholes and requires immediate attention of authorities.
The locals said that it developed cracks at several spots and the road is currently lying in dilapidated condition at most of the places as it hasn’t been macadamised since last several years.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Bewora said that the road is vital and is connecting dozens of villages with each other but it wasn’t macadamized for the last 10 years now.
He said the road needs immediate attention of higher ups and it must be macadamized so that people won’t suffer any further.
Javid Ahmad, another local said that at some spots the road is in good condition but at most of the places it is in a dilapidated condition and must be macadamised at an earliest.
Due to dilapidated condition of the road, elderly people, students and patients are the worst sufferers, he added.
The locals said the road has good traffic flow and must be given priority.
They claimed that despite bringing the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times, nothing has been done.
They sought the attention of LG Manoj Sinha, DC Anantnag and other officials in this regard.
