Police arrests notorious drug peddler in Shopian
Srinagar: Police in Shopian arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered Heroin like contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Palpora Rawalpora crossing, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended.
During search, heroin like contraband substance weighing about 312 grams (worth crores in international market) was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar resident of Vehil Shopian. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Shopian where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 80/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Shopian and investigation was taken up, the spokesman added.
