Bewoora Bijbehara residents demand upgradation of health centre

Anantnag: The residents of Bewoora village of Bijbehara hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded an upgradation of health and wellness centre in the area.

The residents of the area said that 30 years back a dispensary was started in the area and later it was upgraded to health and wellness centre.

They said that for the last two decades it hasn’t been upgraded despite the fact that the population has increased manifold.

They said that only two nurses have been posted at the centre and except first aid and immunization no facility is available there.

They added that Bewoora is hge village with population in thousands but in absence of medical facilities, they are suffering a lot.

They said that they have to visit other hospitals in absence of proper facilities at the centre.

The locals have demanded up-gradation of health and wellness centre to NTPHC and posting of staff there.

They added that they have already taken up this issue with the higher authorities several times, but to no avail.

They said that it takes a lot of time to reach the different hospitals due to which many patients have died even before reaching to the health facility.

Meanwhile, an official said that process for the up-gradation of this health centre has been taken up.

He said that feasibility along with other parameters are being checked following which any decision will be taken up.
