Pahloo Kulgam residents demand availability of potable water

Kulgam: The residents of Chitteripora Pahloo village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday demanded availability of potable water in the area.
The residents of the area staged a protest against the Jal Shakti department Kulgam over the issue of non-availability of drinking water in the area.
The protestors blocked Phaloo-Chumgund road for a while to press for their demand saying that their village has been neglected over the years.
Ishfaq Ahmad, a local resident said that they have been suffering in absence of potable water for last one month now.
He said that they are forced to drink contaminated water in absence of potable water due to which water borne diseases can break out any time.
The locals alleged that the matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned administration but no improvement has been witnessed so far which forced them to stage a protest.
“We are demanding clean drinking water for our survival as the area is facing acute shortage of drinking water facilities from last one month,” they said.
The protesters appealed to higher authorities to look into the matter and redress the problem at the earliest so that people can feel some sort of relief.
They have sought the attention of LG Manoj Sinha in this regard.
