Pulwama: The residents of Hari Parigam village of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have voiced their concerns and demanded a protection wall and improved drainage systems at the nearby industrial estate that is being set up.

The residents of the area said that they are thankful to the government for announcing an industrial estate at Hari Parigam so that local youth can get employment.

They said that the land identified by the government is marshy land where they have started filling and other processes but with its filling, the whole water will enter the paddy land and orchards of the locals.

They said that if a drain will be constructed along the industrial area and connected with the canal there won’t be any waterlogging and people won’t suffer.

Mohammad Sultan, a local resident said that filling the marshy land without drainage will turn their whole land into wet land.

He said that the water level in the nearby canal also increases during rains and can enter industrial estate and land of the locals as well.

The locals said that there is a need of both drainage and protection wall for the safety of locals along with their property and land.

They said that protection wall and drainage will be more beneficial to the industrial estate as well.

They requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take appropriate steps in this regard.

The locals have sought the attention of LG Manoj Sinha, Director Industries and other authorities in this regard.
