Locals demand immediate repairs

Kulgam: A vital bridge in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district has suffered damage due to recent incessant rains as locals raised an immediate demand of seeking its repairs.

The locals from Bonigam Kulgam area said that the bridge in the area suffered damage due to recent incessant rains due to which people of dozens of villages are facing huge hardships.

They said that the bridge was connecting dozens of villages with each other in the Devsar area but now people of these areas are suffering as they have got disconnected.

Raqib Ahmad, a local resident said that people have to take long routes now and that is taking a toll of time as well as money.

He said students and people who are ill are suffering mostly due to damage to the bridge.

Sameer Ahmad, another local said that the government must act immediately in this regard and repair the bridge as soon as possible.

Locals from the area said that officials already have visited the area and assured that immediate steps will be taken in this regard but no work has been taken up yet.

The locals have once again requested the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps in this regard

Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that they have already taken up the issues and work on the repairs will start soon.
