POEM: To my Bygone Love
By: Shahid Ul Islam
Tell me, won’t you search the graveyard where I will be buried?
Then, won’t you search my tombstone, on which my name will be engraved?
Won’t you come to my grave and sit there for a while?
Won’t you weep there, with your head down?
Won’t you bring a rose and plant it beside my grave?
The rose that will bloom forever beside my grave, holding your memories
Won’t you shed tears and kiss my tombstone?
Won’t you lament and write a threnody?
Won’t you write poetry of separation, and keep me in your books and diaries?
Then, won’t you read those diaries or books, and preserve me in your memories?
Won’t you visit my grave whenever you miss me?
Won’t you feel grieved for this vanished soul who loved you?
My bygone beloved, won’t you?
