Pulwama: The residents of Lelhara area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are demanding construction of a road to their agricultural land spread over 7000 kanals.

The residents of the area said that there are around 200 kanals of state land that have been identified for medicity and this move will boost development and other activities in the area.

They, however, said that the road to the whole land is going through the state land and if the land is devoted to the medicity project there won’t be any way left for them to reach their farm lands.

Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident said that they aren’t against the medicity project but the road is a must for farmers as without a road they won’t be able to access their farm lands.

He said that the road if constructed will be beneficial for both medicity as well as local population.

Shakeel Ahmad, another local said that if the road won’t be constructed, the medicity project will block all the temporary roads to their farmland and they will not be able to earn their livelihood.

He said that most of the people in the area are dependent on farming and if they won’t be able to reach their lands they will lose their livelihood.

Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take appropriate steps in this regard so that locals won’t suffer.
