Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes vehicles, arrests five persons
Srinagar: Police seized five vehicles and arrested five drivers in Kulgam and Baramulla for being involved in illegal extraction of minerals, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that in Kulgam, a police party during Naka checking at DH Pora Chowk seized a vehicle (tractor) besides, arrested the driver on the spot, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow. The accused driver has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Muhammad Rather resident of Yarikha. He has been shifted to police station DH Pora where he remains in custody.
In Baramulla, police parties seized four tractors and arrested four drivers identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganie resident of Saloosa Kreeri, Abdul Rashid Karnie resident of Wazapora Naidkhai, Younis Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Imran Khan both residents of Aboora Baramulla involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kreeri, Wussan and Kunzer.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been taken up.
