Bandipora: A 45-year-old man, father of four, lost his life after his boat capsized in Wular Lake near Kanbathi village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday morning.

Locals said that Mushtaq Ahmad Kawa, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kawa of Kanbathi village of Bandipora district was on his way to catch fishes when his boat capsized in Wular Lake.

“Upon receiving news of the boat capsizing, a swift rescue operation was launched in Wular Lake; however, they were only able to recover the body of the deceased,” they said.

The deceased, who relied solely on fishing in Wular Lake to support his four children, tragically perished in the boat capsizing incident. The locals appealed to the district administration to compensate the family members of the deceased, as they now find themselves without a breadwinner.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on his native village as soon as the news of his death reached his village.

People who accompanied Kawa to Wular Lake expressed profound shock over his untimely demise and offered prayers for peace to his departed soul. (KNO)
