Lalpora Awantipora residents rue frequent snags in power transformer

Pulwama: The residents of Lalpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district alleged huge hardships during the days of Ramadhan as the power transformer in their area is developing technical snags frequently.

The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD as they say that the department has failed in finding a permanent solution to this pesky problem.

Locals said the existing transformer has developed technical snag several times in the last few months and at least three times during the month of Ramadan.

They said that the transformer has been developing snags frequently due to heavy load that needs to be checked.

Javaid Ahmad, a local said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade the infrastructure especially in the rural areas.

He said that despite paying bills on time authorities fail in repairing the transformer as it develops snags frequently.

He said that the monthly tariff has been increased to 1300 in last few months but they have failed in upgrading the infrastructure.

Abdl Aziz, another local said that they have been suffering in this holy month as the area does not get power supply.

“We have been frequently living under darkness and students are suffering mostly as they have to prepare for different examinations,” he said.

Locals said that they have been raising the issue before the concerned officials who assure about resorting to a permanent solution but on ground nothing is being done.

Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that their transformer has already been repaired and is being installed in the area.
