Srinagar, Apr 2: Police arrested four gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

He said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities in the orchards of Tapper Pattan, a police party raided the specific spot and apprehended four gamblers and recovered stake money of ₹ 1250/- besides playing cards from their possession.

They have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Abdullah resident of Trumgund Sopore, Abdul Ahad Rather son of Ghulam Mohammad, Mohammad Shafi Wani son of Gaffar Wani and Ghulam Nabi Parra son of Abdul Raheem all residents of Tapper Pattan. They have been shifted to police station Pattan where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Pattan and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
