Police recovers illicit timber in Sopore, Baramulla and Budgam
Srinagar: Police recovered illicit timber in Sopore, Baramulla and Budgam and arrested the accused persons involved in the crime, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that a police party during patrolling at village Bonibal Rawoocha, Dangiwatcha intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05D 3903 driven by Mir Ikhlas Ahmad Abasi son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Nowpora Hamal Rafiabad.
During search, officers recovered 10 logs of illicit timber from the vehicle. The accused driver has been arrested and illicit timber, vehicle have been seized.
Meanwhile in Baramulla, following a reliable information, Police recovered 8 logs of illicit timber (Deodar) from compartment No 9 Bimyar Boniyar besides arrested the accused persons identified as Mushtaq Ahmad son of Ali Mohammad, Maroof Ahmad son of Amod Yaqoob Khan & Ab Rehman son of Mohd Ismail, all residents of Bimyar Boniyar, the spokesman added.
Similarly in Budgam, he said that following an information regarding illicit timber in Forest area of Village Hamchipora, a Police party from PS Khag rushed to the spot and seized the illicit timber comprising of 08 logs measuring 12 Cft.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, the spokesman said.
