The residents of the different areas of south Kashmir’s including Pulwama, Pampore, Awantipora, Rajpora, Litter, Panzgam, Zainapora, Watchi, Keller, Imamsahib, Shopian, Kanjiullar, Vehil, Harmain, and many other areas have alleged that they are getting a supply of just few hours when they are scheduled to get 16 hour power supply on daily basis.

The locals from these areas said that the unscheduled power cuts have increased in last few weeks despite the consumers submitting monthly tariff on time.

Umar Hayat, a resident of Keller said that they are reeling under hours of power cuts daily and despite repeated requests to the PDD department no attention was provided towards their plight.

“We are facing hardships due to the pesky power cuts all along the day and even during the night. If PDD is unable to provide uninterrupted scheduled power supply then they don’t have the right to charge any fee from us,” he said.

Sameer Ahmad, a resident of Shopian said the frequent power cuts have also badly affected the students adversely and despite repeated requests nothing is being done on ground.

Locals from many areas said that they are facing difficulties to pay electricity fee worth thousands that is being enhanced almost three four times in a year but on the other hand there is no schedule supply of power ensured.

Javid Ahmad, another resident of Pulwama said that unscheduled power cuts have increased in last few weeks but on the other hand government is cutting off lines of those who are unable to pay their dues.
