Police arrests two drug peddlers in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession, a police spokesman said Friday.

He said that a police party intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Mohammad Subhan and Bashir Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool, both residents of Bernate Boniyar. During search, officer was able to recover 48 grams of Charas & cash amount of ₹4600/-. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Boniyar where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Boniyar and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman said.

He said that police have registered 39 cases under NDPS act, arrested 62 drug peddlers including 07 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS & attached properties belonging to drug peddlers worth 1.1 crores in Baramulla district during the current year.
