Police arrests two drug peddlers in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Nihama near Bridge, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Chogalpora Manzgam. During search, 340 grams of Cannabis Powder and 30 grams of Charas were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Meanwhile, in Anantnag, a police party at a checkpoint established at Tulkhan Crossing Sangam, arrested a drug peddler identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar resident of Hassanpora Taveela and recovered 12 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. He has been shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
