Pulwama residents elated as receiving station made functional after seven years
Pulwama: The residents of Kamrazipora area of Pulwama and its adjoining area in south Kashmir are feeling elated as the much awaited receiving station has been made functional after seven years.
Locals said that the receiving station was sanctioned for Charipora area on Pulwama-Budgam boundary in 2016, however, the receiving station wasn’t made functional yet.
They said that the residents of many villages from Pulwama and Budgam were receiving supplies from Pulwama but due to long distance they were getting unscheduled power supply.
He said that by making the receiving station functional, people of around one dozen villages are elated as they are now expecting scheduled power supply.
Khursheed Mir, a local resident said that it was a long pending demand of different villages of Pulwama and Budgam districts as it will provide scheduled power supply to dozens of villages as these areas were suffering from decades.
He said that work on it was started years back and completed last year besides that it was charged in March 2023 but it was made functional just a day before only.
Locals from Pakherpora, Kamrazipora, Thokerpora, Alglar Kandi, Kanigam, Charipora, Mohanpora, Mirgund, Khaigam, Kanedajan and its adjacent areas said that they were hardly receiving scheduled power supply in winters but now authorities have made this receiving station functional and the issue of power crisis will be over in the area to a large extent.
They thanked authorities of power development department and Deputy commissioner Pulwama for making the receiving station functional while requesting them to ensure scheduled power supply in the area
