Athletes demand facilities at Footfall stadium Tral

Pulwama: The Football stadium in the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district lacks basic facilities due to which players have not been able to utilize the facility to the hilt.

The athletes from Tral area said that they are thankful to the government for providing football stadium at Tral but at the same time funds need to be utilised in an organized manner so that facilities are developed properly.

They said that they were hopeful that the government will complete the civil and other works on the football stadium but the work has been left midway leaving the players dejected.

Muneer Ahmad, a local player said that work on the football stadium has been left midway as the ground still needed immediate leveling, seating arrangements and washroom facilities.

He said that the government should have focused on making the stadium feasible for playing during day time but most of the attention ios being provided to make the stadium fit for activities during night hours.

He said that lights should have been given secondary preference and priority should have been given to leveling work, fencing, turf and goal post.

The players said that the valley is facing the nuisance of drug addiction which is due to lack of recreational opportunities provided to our youth and development of such grounds are very important to keep them away from drugs.

They said that they have to visit Srinagar and other places for practicing as they are unable to practice here due to the dilapidated condition of the playing area.

Shakeel Ahmad, another player said that many a times officials from the administration visited the ground and assured that the ground shall be transformed into a football stadium, but that isn’t happening on ground.

The players said government must give proper attention towards the stadium so that players can utilize it for their needs.

They said that due to unbalanced leveling, players most often suffer from injuries while playing or practicing at the stadium.

The players and locals have now urged the concerned authorities to develop the ground at an earliest so that youth will be engaged in sports activities and will not fall prey to drugs.
