Pulwama: Due to persistent dry spell in Kashmir Valley, the famous water spring Aripal in the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is drying up leading to a water shortage in several villages.

Officials of PHE Tral informed that the water level of famous spring Aripal is decreasing with each passing day and it is near about to completely dry up.

They said that the famous spring is currently acting as a drinking water source to several water supply schemes and with decrease in water level it has lead to water shortage in many areas.

The officials said that the fish farm of the fisheries department was functioning there but due to the very low level of the water, they have now shifted the fishes to another place.

The officials further added that the water level is very low currently and if it won’t snow or rain during the next few weeks, the whole spring will dry up and that will escalate the problem.

Meanwhile, the locals said that they have been facing water shortage since past many days due to the low water level at Aripal spring.

They said that this is for the first time in the recent past that the level of water at this famous spring has gone so down.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and take appropriate steps before the problem will further escalates.

Importantly, the officials said that they are looking for alternate arrangements in this regard so that people won’t suffer.
