Dadoo Bijbehara residents demand upgradation of playground
Anantnag: The residents of the Dadoo Marhama area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded development of the local playground.
The residents of the area said that they are thankful to the government for announcing sports stadium in the area but the need of the hour is to develop it so that children and sports persons can avail its benefits.
A local sarpanch said that few works have been done by Rural Development Department but much more needs to be done so that the space becomes workable.
He urged local authorities to prioritize the creation of a safe and vibrant space for play.
He further added that young people are getting addicted towards drugs and there is need to create more and more sports opportunities so as to keep them away from the drug menace.
Local sports persons said that a well-designed playground not only fosters physical activity but also promotes social interaction and community cohesion.
Currently, the playground is lying in dilapidated condition and there is an immediate need to take steps for the development of this ground, they added.
A local player said that due to the uneven surface and presence of trees in the ground, players often get injuries.
He said that either the sports department or any other department must take care of the stadium for the development of the playing area.
Locals said that they have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They requested the district authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard.
Meanwhile, an official of the RDD department said that some development works have already been taken up and in the coming weeks other pending works will also be completed.
