26 years on, construction of Khankah-e-Faiz-Panah shrine in Tral awaits completion
Pulwama: The reconstruction of the renowned shrine of Shahi-Hamdan Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) located at the uptown area of Tral in south Kashmir awaits completion for the last twenty six years.
The old building of the shrine, according to locals, was completely damaged in a mysterious fire incident that took place in December 1997 following which the government announced its reconstruction to be completed in the next two years.
Locals said that since then 26 years have passed and the reconstruction process was started but it hasn’t been completed yet.
They said that tourism department and JKPCC authorities had taken this project but they failed to reconstruct the shrine in a stipulated time due to which people visiting there have been complaining abot the left over works.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a local resident said that many works are pending that includes the front elevation which according to him needs to be done as early as possible.
He said that for the last 26 years several governments have changed but all have failed to complete the project.
Locals said that they have repeatedly taken up the issue with the government even as local political leaders have raised this issue as well, but still many things are pending at the shrine.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that people visiting the shrine will feel elated.
Meanwhile, when contacted an official of the JKPCC said that 90 percent of the work at the shrine has been completed while DPR for the rest of the work has already been submitted but hasn’t been approved yet.
He said that as JKPCC has been merged with R&B and now pending work will be done by the R&B department.
