Private schools ‘continue’ schooling during vacations in Pulwama

CEO takes cognizance, says non-compliance will be dealt with strictly

Pulwama: Several private schools in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been violating government orders by continuing schooling despite the announcement for winter vacations.

Officials said that the school education department has been receiving complaints that some private schools are continuing with class work even after the announcement of vacations.

They said that they have received complaints about charging the transportation fee and other dues that isn’t justified under rules.

Meanwhile, the department has already taken cognizance and has directed Schools to desist from such practices and asked them that non compliance will be dealt with strictly.

“Since government has announced winter vacations for all government and government recognized private schools up-to class 8th w,e,f 01-12-2023 to 29-02-2024. This office is receiving complaints from the field and from the parents of the kids reading in private schools that some institutions are violating the government orders/circulars by continuing schooling during vocations. Moreover, complaints are pouring in regarding charging of transportation fee and other dues which is not justified under rules,” reads the circular issued by CEO Pulwama.

“As such it is reiterated for all the heads of institutions and managing bodies to desist from such practices and adhere to the directions already passed by the department. Any such non compliance will be dealt with strictly as per rules and guidelines,” the circular reads.
