Locals seek to expedite construction work at Monghama sports stadium
Pulwama: The residents of Monghama village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded expedition of works being carried out at the local sports stadium.
The residents of the area said that they are thankful to the government for identifying land for the sports stadium as it was a long demand of the locals.
They said that 13 Kanals of land have been identified and work has been started as well but the civil works are going on at snail’s pace.
“There is a need for the constriction of boundary walls on priority so that the internal work can be done easily and without any disruptions,” the locals said.
Sameer Ahmad, a local sports person said that the government has identified 13 Kanals of land for construction of a stadium and the utmost importance must be given to the construction of a boundary wall so that no one can encroach pon the land and the internal works are carried out with ease.
He said that sports stadium is important to engage youth in activities so as to keep them away from drug addiction and other such activities.
The local players said that if the ground is developed on modern lines, it would help players to nourish their talent and prove their mettle at mega stages.
They said that developing sports infrastructure is the only option to keep youth away from drug addiction and help them to engage in physical activities.
They said that investing in such a facility will not only provide a platform for ensuring physical well being of sports persons but will also create a sense of pride and unity within the community.
“By channeling the energy of the youth into constructive outlets, the sports stadium is anticipated to play a pivotal role in the ongoing battle against drug addiction, fostering healthier lifestyles and positive social connections for the younger generation,” the players added.
They requested the concerned authorities to expedite the work at an earliest so that players can resume their practices also.
