Say local transformer develops technical snag frequently

Shopian: The residents of Daramdora area of Keegam in south Kashmir’s Shopian district are reeling under darkness as the transformer installed in the village is developing snags frequently due to heavy load, locals said Monday.

The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD for failing to rectify the technical snag of transformer saying that many a times request has been made to replace the transformer which is witnessing overload during winters.

Locals said the existing transformer develops technical snags frequently due to heavy load on the transformer.

They said that there are around 65 households who have been put on this transformer and due to heavy load it often develops snag following which locals have to arrange money to take it to the workshop.

Aijaz Ahmad, a local said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they fail to check the reasons behind frequent snags besides enhancing infrastructure.

He said that they are even failing to rectify the snag in 48 hour timeline as assured by the government.

He said that despite paying bills on time authorities fail in repairing the transformer on time.

Locals said if old transformer is developing technical snag frequently, they must install a transformer with higher capacity so that people won’t suffer.

“We are reeling under darkness and students are suffering mostly who have to prepare for different examinations,” they said.

They said that they have been raising this issue before the concerned higher officials but to no avail.

Meanwhile, an official of the PDD department said that the transformer is being repaired and will be re-installed very soon.

He said that they will check the reasons behind frequent snags and other demands of public will be looked into.
