Burglars on prowl in Sopore, two shops looted

Sopore : The burglars struck and looted two shops during the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday and decamped with goods worth lakhs of Rupees in Sopore town, locals alleged.

The burglars looted the “Jhelum textile” shop belonging to Ghulam Nabi Khan and other cloth shop of Bashir Ahmad Matoo at Goal market Main Chowk Sopore during the intervening night and decamped with clothes and other valuables worth lakhs.

Earlier, Jhelum textile had witnessed an attempt by burglars to loot the shop some two weeks back but they had not achieved success at that time.

Meanwhile, President Traders federation Sopore Haji Muhammad Ashraf Ganaie, expressed concern over the burglary incident in town.

He urged the district authorities and Police to check these rising burglary incidents and curb these burglars who are coming from other parts of north Kashmir for burglary in this business hub.

However, police said that the case in this regard stand registered in police station Sopore, while as a manhunt has been launched to nab the robbers.
