Police arrests notorious drug peddler in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

He said that a police party through reliable sources got the information that a person identified as Yasir Ahmad Hajam son of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam resident of Yangoora has kept contraband substances at his home with the intention to sell it to the local youth of the area.

Acting swiftly, a Police party raided the specific house and during search, Charas Powder, Dry and Wet Bhung Patri were recovered. The recovered contraband substances were seized in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class and the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, the spokesman added.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 76/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Lar and investigation has been initiated, he said.

Meanwhile, police in Kulgam arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police party while on patrolling at Tazipora Mohmadpora intercepted a suspicious person identified as Dawood Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Amin Bhat resident of Tazipora Mohmadpora, Kulgam. During search, officers were able to recover 7.4 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a nylon bag, from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, the spokesman added.
