KV News Desk
Uttarkashi, Nov 28: The unwavering 17-day rescue operation bore fruit, ultimately saving the lives of 41 laborers hailing from various states across the country, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. This extensive rescue mission showcased a blend of cutting-edge technologies and the remarkable skills of rat-hole miners, who efficiently drilled through the remaining 12 meters in a remarkably short period. It served as a global lesson on integrating both machinery and human expertise for the success of such crucial rescue operations.
The ordeal began on November 12, the auspicious day of Diwali, when a section of the under-construction Silkyara tunnel collapsed, trapping 41 laborers inside.
NHIDCL, the tunnel construction company, initially attempted to clear the debris to rescue the workers. However, due to subsequent collapses, an alternative approach was sought. Collaborating with various agencies, NHIDCL considered laying a path using a drilling machine.
