KVK Gurez kick-starts Week-long Agri-entrepreneurship training programme
BANDIPORA: A weeklong agri-entrepreneurship training programme was Friday kick-started at Dak Bunglow Dawar on the theme of ‘Technological interventions on promoting Beekeeping as a source of sustainable livelihood in Gurez valley’ sponsored by ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India.
The program will focus on empowering tribal rural youth through the art and science of beekeeping. The initiative aims to harness the region’s unique Bee-flora providing participants with hands-on training in Apiary management, honey extraction, and the sustainable cultivation of Bee-friendly crops like Buckwheat, Amaranth, Strawberry, etc.
By imparting knowledge on the importance of bees in ecological balance and agriculture, the program not only equips the youth with practical skills but also instills a sense of entrepreneurship among them.
As the aspiring beekeepers delve into the world of apiculture, the program envisions not just economic upliftment but also the preservation of indigenous beekeeping practices in the valley of Gurez.
