Kulgam: The residents of  Mashkhud and Maldar area of of Devsar hamlet in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have demanded carrying out repair works on the vital Mashkhud-Maldar road which according to them is lying in dilapidated condition.

The residents of the area said that the road wasn’t macadamised for last several years due to which its condition has turned from bad to worse.

They said that the road is full of muddy patches and potholes putting the lives of people at risk as accident often take place on this road.

Altaf Ahmad, a local resident said that this vital road was macadamised few years back and now the road is lying in a dilapidated condition at most of the places giving tough time to locals and commuters.

He said that government must look into the issue as this road is connecting dozens of villages with each other.

Sameer Ahmad, another local resident said that road needs to be widened at several spots as well as two vehicles can’t pass on the road simultaneously.

The residents said that common masses have no option other than to commute on this rough road due to which students and patients are facing huge inconvenience.

The locals alleged that despite bringing the issue into the notice of higher ups several times nothing has been done on ground.

The locals have again requested the administration to look into the matter at an earliest and get the road repaired at an earliest so that people can heave a sigh of relief ahead of the winter season.

Meanwhile, an official of the R&B said that road has been taken under NABARD and work on road will be started soon.
