Zahidbagh Pulwama locality rues damage to power transformer
Pulwama: The residents of Zahidbagh area of Litter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are reeling under darkness as the power transformer installed in the locality has developed a technical snag.
The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD for failing to rectify the technical snag that has been reported thrice during the past few weeks.
Locals said that the existing transformer has developed technical snag twice in last fortnight due to heavy load on the transformer.
They said that mere 20 households have been put on the 63 KVA transformer but due to unknown reasons it gets damaged frequently.
Zahoor Ahmad, a local said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they fail to check the reasons behind frequent snags and other issues.
He said that they are even failing to rectify the snag in 48 hour timeline given by the government.
He said that despite paying bills on time authorities fail in repairing the transformer on time.
The locals said if the old transformer is developing technical snag frequently, they must install level 2 transformer here or put a 100 KVA transformer so that the consumers won’t face any trouble during this winter days.
“We are reeling under darkness and students are suffering mostly who are preparing for different examinations,” they said.
They said that they have been raising the before the concerned officials to no avail.
The locals have now requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they won’t suffer any more.
Meanwhile, an official of the PDD said that the transformer is being repaired and will be re-installed very soon.
