Police arrests four drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore

Srinagar: Police arrested four drug peddlers including a notorious and wanted woman drug peddler in Baramulla and Sopore and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

He said that in Baramulla, a police party at a checkpoint established at Sharai Tangmarg intercepted two persons. During search, 65 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Magray son of Sonaullah Magray resident of Drooru and Javid Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Ahad resident of Shrai.

Meanwhile, a police party arrested a notorious and wanted woman drug peddler at Dewanbagh near Grid Station. She has been identified as Afroza Begum @ Afree wife of Late Fayaz Ahmad Dar resident of Ganie Hamam Baramulla presently residing at Hygam Sopore. During the search, 60 grams of contraband Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from her possession.

In Sopore, a police party at a checkpoint established at Ziyarat Shareef Berhampura intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Muhammad Nadeem Mir @Shiaya son of Muhammad Mubarak Mir resident of Behrampura Rafiabad. During search, 12 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
