Welkin premier football league begins in Sopore
Sopore: Welkin premier football league 2023 started at the Welkin educational trust campus here in Sopore on Monday.
A statement issued by the institution said that about 22 teams from various schools of valley are participating in the tournament. The event is being organised by Welkin educational trust, Sopore.
A grand opening of the tournament was held on opening day of the league, in which ADC Sopore S.A Raina was chief guest on the occasion, besides SDPO Sopore, SHO Sopore, number of stakeholders including Traders federation members along with their president, civil society members, president industrial estate Sopore and hundreds of students of various educational institutions were present.
The event started with an opening prayer by staff and students of the institute following the school anthem.
The inaugural match of the tournament was played in between SRM Welkin Sopore and Gulzar memorial educational trust Nowpora, in this match SRM Welkin team played well from the beginning and were successful to score seven consecutive goals and win their first match by margin of 5 goals, the overall score remained at 7 is to 2 goals.
The first day of the tournament concluded successfully and witnessed a lot of enthusiasm among the participants and the spectators, the statement added.
