Police arrests on the run timber smuggler in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 10: Police Friday said to have arrested a notorious timber smuggler, on the run for a long time, in Handwara area of north Kashmir.
“Based on human and technical input, a notorious/habitual timber smuggler identified as Mohammad Ashraf Chechi son of Lal Din Chechi of Shiltra Qalamabad was arrested by police,: the spokesman said.
He said that the smuggler had been evading his arrest since March 2023.
“Pertinently, a PSA warrant was issued by DM Kupwara on March 03, 2023 against him as he is known for orchestrating a network of illegal timber trade”, the spokesman added.
