Deptt of HP&M Shopian organises Awareness Camp on e-NAM at Aglar Fruit Mandi

SHOPIAN: In a first of its kind, an awareness Camp on e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) platform was Thursday organised by the Department of Horticulture, Planning and Marketing (HP&M) Shopian at Aglar Fruit & Vegetable (F&V) Mandi Shopian.

Speaking on the occasion, Area Marketing Officer Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone informed that the vision of this e-market is to create a unified national market for all the agricultural produce.

He further elucidated that each Farm Producing organization (FPO), Farmer, trader, buyer, commission agent, SHGs, cooperatives etc. has to register on this portal for trading on e-NAM and avail the subsequent benefits.

He added that the portal would help in discovering real time prices on actual demand and supply position and thereby reduce the exploitation of producers at the hands of middlemen.

Each buyer and seller would have access to nationwide markets with prices commensurate to the quality of the produce.

Moreover it brings transparency in the auction process, ensures online transaction of price amount in seller’s aadhar seeded accounts and streamlines producers across integrated markets throughout the country, participants were apprised.

After the farmers register on e-market with their produce, a unique lot ID number is given to his produce. The same is followed by grading of the produce and displaying the produce on the auction platform for physical verification and online display.

The State Coordinator, (e-NAM), Department of Horticulture, Planning and Marketing Srinagar, Jameel Jeelani stated that all the functional F&V markets of the UT of J&K would be connected with this pan-India portal in the next one year in a phased manner.

The president, Fruit Growers Association, Shopian, Mohammad Amin said that the whole process is easy, transparent and free from all middlemen thereby ensuring maximum benefits to the farmers.

The fruit growers, farmers, traders and other concerned were present.
