Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes seven vehicles, arrests as many persons in Baramulla

Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police on Tuesday seized seven vehicles and arrested seven persons in Baramulla, a police spokesman said.

He said that a police party seized seven vehicles (3 tippers and 4 tractors) and arrested seven persons (Drivers) at Delina and Main Market Baramulla for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

The accused drivers have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman resident of Jalsheeri, Bashir Ahmad Khan son of Lal Din resident of Kanispora, Manzoor Ahmad Gojree son of Mohammad Shaban resident of Drangbal, Shahid Hamid Rather son of Abdul Hamid, Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Wali Mohammad, Mohammad Arif Dar son of Fayaz Ahmad and Javaid Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi, all residents of Darpora Delina. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, he added.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been initiated.
