Poru Kokernag residents rue lack of facilities in the area
Anantnag: The residents of Poru in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded basic facilities in the area.
The residents said that the area has no road connectivity, health facility and potable water supply.
“We were used by politicians for political gains only as since 70 years despite participating in the democratic practices the area has been kept devoid of everything,” Ishfaq Ahmad, a local resident, said.
He said that locals on their own have done earth cutting work of the road from Gohinard to Poru but the local administration has failed in making this road motorable.
“Even in 2ist century we are without road connectivity giving tough time to the entire population residing in the area,” Shakeel Ahmad, another local said.
He said that poor people from the area had sold their cattle to spent money for earth cutting of the temporary road.
Locals said that the successive regimes have deprived them of basic facilities and even LG lead administration though approached several times has not addressed their genuine demands so far.
They said that besides road connectivity, the area is without potable water and health facilities but no attention is being given towards these major concerns.
“There is no one to care for us and despite taking up these issues with the concerned authorities repeatedly, there is no change on ground,” they said.
They once again requested the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and take steps to provide facilities in the area.
