Pulwama: The Small Industries Development Corporations (SIDCO’s) Industrial area at Lassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is functioning without any health facilities creating a concern among the workers engaged in various units.

The nit holders said that that there are 400 units functioning in the industrial area but no health facilities are available due to which people working there are facing inconvenience.

They added that it is all machinery work going on at every unit and anytime there can be a emergency case but in absence of any health facility, there is no option other than to take the person to district hospital Pulwama which is around 15 kilometres from the location.

“Many times labourers have got injured while working and they lost lot of blood in reaching to the hospital and if such facilities would have been available here such cases would have been treated here and that too on time,” they said.

“Being one of the largest industrial area the health facilities are of utmost importance but government has failed as of now in providing such facilities,” said Nisar Ahmad, a unit holder.

He said that accidents take place almost every day in units as it is machinery work and it takes time in taking such patients to a nearby hospital.

Unit holders said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but they are unmoved.

They further added that big halls are available at industrial estate office but no facilities have been provided for arranging a healthcare facility.

An official of the Industrial estate said that they have written to Chief Medical officer Pulwama several times who had assured that facilities will be made available there but as of now nothing has happened on ground.

When contacted, Manager Industrial Estate Lassipora, Rafiq Ahmad said that estate has already identified two kanals of land for the construction of hospital there and very soon work will start on the project.
