Jammu: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, under the aegis of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), has launched the Five-Day Advanced E-SDP Program for 2023-2024. This program is designed to promote entrepreneurial excellence by harnessing smart and sustainable agricultural practices.

The inauguration of this program was graced by Archit Puri, Chairman of CII Jammu & Kashmir and Director of Puri & Puri, who served as the Chief Guest and Instructor.

In his inspiring address, Puri shared the remarkable journey of P Mark Food Products, offering insights from his thirteen years of experience in the field of agricultural startups. He highlighted their transformation, from resurrecting the family flour business to becoming the largest flour mill in a single location in the country, expanding into diverse ventures such as logistics, petrol pumps, and copper rod manufacturing.

Puri emphasized the importance of making deliberate choices in life rather than leaving it to chance. He encouraged participants to consider technical skills as a pathway to secure employment.

Following the inaugural session, the program continued with the second session led by Prof FA Shaheen from SKUAST Kashmir. His session focused on “Leveraging Entrepreneurial Excellence in Agriculture through Technology and Policy: Jammu and Kashmir’s Perspective.”

The day’s activities also included a group visit to SKUAST [Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology] Jammu, led by Dr. Lakhvinder Singh, from IIT Jammu. The insights gained from the field visit helped the participants to understand the practical elements of the theory. This also helped them build Networking Opportunities, and build valuable connections with fellow entrepreneurs and industry experts, fostering collaborative growth and innovation within the agricultural sector.

The second day of the workshop promises to offer valuable insights on ethics and entrepreneurship, with contributions from professors representing IIT Delhi, IIT Jammu, and IIM Jammu.
